In this lesson, we’ll cover the basic defense for the bear hug (body only) when the attacker is positioned in front.
The attacker has us held by the body, and our hands are free.
STEPS
- We’ll take a step back to ensure our stability.
- With one of our hands, we approach the patient’s face, placing our thumb on the eye. We immediately repeat the same procedure with our other hand.
The thumbs face down, the palms and fingers are at the top, and we make a small rotation that causes the head to tilt back.
- We release the first hand that held the hold to initiate a frontal hammer blow to the face or throat.
- After several hammer blows, we release, launch a kick to the groin, and assume a combat stance. Remember, as always, to check your surroundings.
