In this block, we’ll continue learning arm strikes, this time lateral and vertical.
In this first lesson, let’s learn the circular front hammer blow, «hammer-hook.» It’s a powerful strike that hits our attacker’s jaw.
STEPS
- Neutral Position
- The front hammer circle punch can be performed with either the right or left hand, depending on the situation.
- The arm is thrown vertically and laterally inward, with the fist closed (knuckles facing outward). We strike with the side of the hand.
- Turn your torso, tuck your shoulder, and slightly rotate the leg on the same side as the punch.
- When you have struck, return your arm and step forward with the leg on the same side as the punch. Then, assume a combat stance.
- Remember to keep your non-striking hand in a defensive stance to protect your face.
- Perform several strikes, switching arms to practice from both sides.
