This is the position that involves a mid-body guard.
The first option, called the upper guard, is executed by raising the hands to face level in a deterrent stance.
The second option, called the lower guard, is one in which we move one of our legs back.
In this guard, we have an advantage of surprise, since we don’t display any aggression or combative attitude. The opponent won’t expect us to attack, which will give us an opportunity to neutralize them.
