6B. GROUND DEFENSE II (COMBAT)

1.- Ground strike: heel, metatarsal, front kick (3 and 6) (FREE)

When we’re on the ground, it’s important to know the most effective strikes to defend ourselves and inflict damage on our opponent.

In this lesson, we’ll learn some of the striking combinations you can use.

In this first lesson, we’ll detail the three-leg combination: the heel of the foot, the metatarsal, and the front kick.

STEPS

  1. Combat stance on the ground, when the opponent is close. Remember that both feet are raised, one facing horizontally and outward (parallel to the ground) and the other vertically.
  2. The horizontal foot delivers a direct blow to the attacker’s knee. The importance of the horizontal foot striking the knee is due to its greater probability of impact. If we were to strike vertically, it would be very easy to miss.
  3. Now, the other vertical foot strikes the groin area.
  4. Next, the foot that struck first now launches a kick aimed at the opponent’s face. We indicate the face, since after our first two strikes, the attacker will likely have lowered their torso and their face will be closer to us to inflict damage.
  5. Try this combination of strikes: knee, groin, and face, always alternating your legs during the strikes.
  6. Now perform the same combination but with a double strike (one strike with each leg), that is, two strikes to the knee, two to the groin, and two to the face.
  7. Practice each combination, the three-strike combination, and the six-strike combination, for one minute.
